A major campaign to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness in the military has been launched by Combat Stress.

The charity hopes to cut the length of time former soldiers wait before they get help with PTSD, which currently averages 13 years.

Combat Stress says many are too ashamed or worried about the stigma of mental illness to seek help.

The charity says the longer they wait the more they risk suffering from additional mental health problems.
