More than 500 members of 1st Battalion The Rifles are being granted the freedom of Chepstow in Monmouthshire.

Hundreds of people gathered to watch the ceremony at the main entrance to Chepstow Castle this morning.

The battalion will also exercise its right to march through the town, led by the Band of Bugles of The Rifles, after receiving their campaign medals.

The last members of the battalion recently returned from Afghanistan to base at Beachley Barracks in Gloucestershire.
